Acceptable Use Policy
In short
RelayReply is for making your own calls: ordering, booking, asking, sorting out bills and appointments, and calls for your own work. Use it the way you'd use your own phone, honestly and within the law. Don't use it for emergencies, harassment, telemarketing, cold or sales calls, bulk calling, debt collection, calling for other people as a service, fraud, or pretending to be someone you're not. If you do, we can end calls and limit or close your account.
On this page
1. Use it for your own calls
- Call about your own affairs, or someone else's only with their permission (for example a family member who asked you to call their pharmacy). Calling about someone's affairs is not the same as pretending to be them (section 4).
- Your own work is fine: for example a small business calling its suppliers, or an employee calling a vendor for their job.
- One person per account.
- Calls are placed one at a time, by you, through the app. No scripts, bots or automation that place calls for you.
2. Not for emergencies
- Don't try to reach 911, other emergency numbers, N11 numbers or crisis lines through RelayReply. Use your phone's emergency calling, or text 911 where text-to-911 is available.
- Don't use RelayReply to report an emergency to anyone else (for example, a building manager about a fire) in place of calling 911.
3. Calls we don't allow
Don't use RelayReply for:
- telemarketing, sales, cold or lead-generation calls, or any call to advertise something;
- bulk calling: calling many numbers with the same or a similar mission, or calling the same number over and over;
- debt collection, for yourself or anyone else;
- political, fundraising, survey or advocacy calls to people who didn't ask you to call;
- calling for other people as a service (for example, making calls for clients or customers, or reselling calls); a plan for employers and teams may come later;
- any unlawful automated or artificial-voice call; or
- calling anyone after they've asked you to stop.
4. Honesty on the call
- Don't impersonate anyone. Don't use RelayReply to pretend to be another person, a business, a government agency or a professional.
- Don't use the AI voice to pass a voice check, such as a bank's or a phone company's voice authentication, or any other identity check.
- Don't use RelayReply to get someone else's information by pretending to be them (for example, calling their bank, doctor or phone company).
- Don't write an announcement that misleads (for example, one that says a human is speaking, or names someone else as the caller).
- Don't use RelayReply to deceive or defraud anyone, including scams, false claims, chargeback fraud or fake reviews.
5. Respect the people you call
Don't use RelayReply to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, bully or intimidate anyone;
- make obscene, hateful or discriminatory calls;
- pressure or manipulate vulnerable people;
- contact someone who has a court order or other legal reason preventing your contact; or
- call children who aren't your own family.
6. Follow the law
Don't use RelayReply in a way that breaks a law, including laws on:
- call recording and eavesdropping;
- AI and artificial-voice calls, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and its consent rules (see the Terms, section 5);
- privacy, consumer protection, and unfair or deceptive practices; and
- illegal goods, services or activities.
7. Protect the Service
Don't:
- try to get around limits, caps, the announcement, the acknowledgments or our security;
- use far more than normal use needs (for example, preparing many calls you don't make, or checking many numbers you don't call); we'll warn you first, then limit the account;
- probe, scan or attack our systems, or access other people's data;
- copy, resell, sublicense or reverse-engineer the Service;
- try to make the AI say harmful things, or to extract its instructions;
- abuse referrals (referring yourself, fake accounts) or practice calls; or
- use the Service to build a competing product.
8. Your RelayReply number
Don't use your RelayReply number to receive codes for accounts that aren't yours, to run a line for other people, or to sign up for services in bulk.
9. What we do about misuse
We may, depending on how serious it is:
- warn you;
- refuse or end a call, or pause the AI;
- limit your account (for example, fewer calls a day);
- remove features, such as your number;
- suspend or close your account, without a refund for the current period; and
- report illegal activity to the authorities and cooperate with them.
10. Report misuse
If you received a call from RelayReply that you think broke this policy, email support@relayreply.com with the date and time, the number that called you, and your own number. Here is what happens:
- We reply within 2 business days to say we have your report.
- We look at the call details: which account called, when, how long, how many calls it has made to you and to others, and what the AI announced. We don't read the call's transcript to do this; staff see a transcript only if our user shares it, or if the law requires it, approved in writing by our founder and logged.
- We may ask our user about the call.
- We decide what to do (section 9). If a user keeps calling someone who has asked them to stop, we limit or close their account.
- We tell you what we can, without sharing our user's private information.
- We keep a record of the report and what we did, in our admin audit log.
If you just don't want calls from a RelayReply user, tell them on the call; you can also tell us, and we'll pass your request on to them.
